Wister Wei Huang is an Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore and a recipient of the NUS Presidential Young Professorship and National Research Foundation Fellowship. He received his PhD from the University of New South Wales, Australia, where he worked on silicon spin qubits, and subsequently joined ETH Zurich, where he became a Senior Scientist working on semiconductor quantum devices and hybrid quantum systems. His current research focuses on semiconductor spin qubits, circuit quantum electrodynamics, and scalable semiconductor–superconductor quantum architectures.
Wister Wei Huang Group
The Solid Quantum Systems (SQS) group develops semiconductor quantum devices and hybrid quantum systems for scalable quantum computing. Our research focuses on quantum-dot spin qubits in materials including silicon, germanium, and two-dimensional systems, with particular interest in high-fidelity multi-qubit operation and readout, and the physical mechanisms that limit device performance.
A central goal of the group is to understand how semiconductor qubits can be scaled from a few well-controlled quantum dots to larger and more connected systems. We develop quantum-dot arrays to study qubit uniformity, control, noise, and interactions in increasingly complex devices, while exploring new materials and device architectures that can simplify fabrication and improve scalability.
We also investigate hybrid approaches that combine semiconductor qubits with superconducting microwave circuits. Such systems provide new possibilities for sensitive readout, long-range coupling, and coherent connections between spatially separated qubits or modules.
More broadly, our work aims to connect advances in semiconductor materials, nanofabrication, quantum control, and circuit quantum electrodynamics to develop practical architectures for future quantum processors.
