Theory

Antonios holds a PhD in Mathematical Optimisation from the Dutch National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science (CWI). Before joining SUTD, he was a Research Fellow at the Centre for Quantum Technologies (Computer Science group) and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National University of Singapore. He also holds an MSc in Theoretical Computer Science and a BSc in Applied and Theoretical Mathematics from the National University of Athens. His research focuses on fundamental aspects of mathematical optimisation, motivated by applications in machine learning and quantum computing.

Artificial intelligence and quantum computing are transforming the way we design and understand intelligent systems. Modern AI — driven by competitive, self-improving, and equilibrium-seeking architectures — has enabled remarkable advances in learning, decision-making, and control. In parallel, quantum computing has emerged as a fundamentally new computational paradigm, leveraging the unique principles of quantum mechanics for information processing. As quantum processors become increasingly scalable and accessible, systems involving multiple interacting quantum-enabled agents are poised to unlock new possibilities in science and engineering. Our group supports research at the intersection of quantum computing and multi-agent systems, focusing on the design and analysis of the behaviour of such complex systems. This is a fundamentally interdisciplinary effort, and we bring together researchers with diverse expertise — including single- and multi-agent optimisation, control theory, game theory, and dynamical systems — to explore the rich landscape of interactions and capabilities enabled by these technologies.
